Brighton’s Bobby Sansom was a solo singer in the early sixties. When the beat group boom took hold he teamed up with a popular band called The Sapphires, and they became Bobby Samson & The Giants. They released two singles for Oriole Records.

Then in the mid sixties Samson left to try his hand at being a solo performer in the USA. This splendid version (listen out for some extraordinairy bass playing) of the Mike d’Abo classic appeared in 1970 on Decca (on the label is written “Handbags And Glad Rags”), so it was a fair bet that Samson was back in the UK at this time.

However he settled permanently in California in the early seventies, and today he runs a music agency, and still occasionally performs himself.
