Engelbert Humperdinck has a long recording career, which started in 1958 and is still not ended; he's still
very popular in Holland these days.

The album "Sweetheart", which was produced by Gordon Mills, was quite popular in the U.S.A., with 24
weeks in the Billboard album Top 200 and number 22 as peak position. Two songs from the album
("Sweetheart" and "When There's No You") made the Billboard single charts. For the Mike d'Abo fans
this is an interesting album, because it has the Tony Macaulay/Mike d'Abo song "Woman In My Life",
which was also recorded by Bobby Vee, Mike Leroy,  the Dutch group Left Side, the USA group Arkade
as you will find out on this website.

Engelbert Humperdinck recorded this ballad in the style of Mike d'Abo's own version on the album "d'Abo".

Engelbert Humperdinck released his first Mike d’Abo song “Woman In My Life” already in 1971 on his album “Sweetheart”. Engelbert has a large following and releases new CD’s frequently and on his 2007 CD “The Winding Road”, which has as subtitle “Best Of The Brits”, he recorded an orchestral version of  “Handbags And Gladrags”. He probably added this song because The Stereophonics had a smash hit with this song, but The Stereophonics version is much rougher.
