This album reproduces the highlights of two Chris Farlowe concerts held at the famous Marquee, London, on 28 July and the Lyceum London, on 6 August 1975. Later many (7) of these songs were also put on the live CD "BBC In Concert" which was released in 1996.

The tracks 9 - 12 were recorded when Chris was in America during 1969 and are songs that are not released by Chris Farlowe on his "normal" releases and therefore sought after by Chris Farlowe fans.

It was good to see, that Chris Farlowe released a brand new CD in 1998 on which he again put "Handbags And Gladrags". But the best thing is, that this is a brand new version, recorded in today's style, with a little more bassdrum and even more aesy to singalong with. Good job Chris !!!

What is not so good, is the way of spelling Mike's name as writer of "Handbags & Gladrags" in the booklet: "A'Abo", however Mike's name is written wrongly quite often, I didn't see it in this way so far.

The musicians on "Handbags & Gladrags are: Tim Renwick (guitar); Steve Price (bass); Gary Wallis (drums); Doreen & Irene Chanter (backing vocals) and of course Chris Farlowe leadvocals.

To cash in on the success The Stereophonics had with the Mike d'Abo song "Handbags And Gladrags" the Sanctuary Record group released this Chris Farlowe compilation and even named it "Handbags And Gladrags". The sleeve notes have among others a copy of the "Handbags And Gladrags" single by Chris on the Immediate label and it also shows the cover of the "The Last Goodbye" album, for which Mike wrote the title song. The sleeve notes also mention: "He registered his last chart record of the 60's with the mighty "Handbags And Gladrags", a Mike d'Abo song which has been successfully revived a couple of times by Rod Stewart and The Stereophonics.
